Local Parenting Resources

Baby Wearers:

Baby wearing is believed to be as old as humankind. Today it is the foundation of Gentle or Attachment Parenting. Babywearing provides emotional and physical benefits to the infant and parents. Babywearing helps parents identify when the infant is showing early hunger cues, regulates infant’s body temperature, and promotes bonding. Most parents do not seek a babywearing professional until after they have more than one child running in opposite directions and the need becomes very apparent. First time parents can also benefit greatly from babywearing and a consultation with a professional.

Breastfeeding Resources:

In the not so distant past, families were raising children and breastfeeding was seen as natural and normal. As technology advanced, the benefits of formula were promoted and society followed the trend. Unfortunately, this trend has left our new families with limited personal resources. Many new families who choose to breastfeed their babies need personal connections to discuss troubles and celebrate triumphs. In person, peer groups provide support and fellowship.

Here are parent-recommended pediatricians and family care physicians. Physicians who have, in the past, accommodated delayed or altered vaccine schedules will be marked with and asterisk (*). Their patient care policies are always subject to change and we recommend meeting the provider before making a decision. If you find an excellent provider, let us know!
